Directions from Stornoway to Crowlista

To get to the village of Crowlista,  take the A859 south out of Stornoway, turn right at Leurbost on a road which becomes the  A858, and weher there are tourist signs pointing to Callanis.   Cross the island through Achmor and Lochganavich.   At Garynahine turn left,  signposted to Uig and Bernera on to the B8011. Stay on that road across the central moorland, come down to the head of Loch Roag and continue along the fast new road through to Loch Chroistean where it becomes single track. Continue through Carishader to Miabhaig, where the road turns left and goes up a narrow valley (created by sub glacial meltwaters) with crags and a small forest on the left side. At the top of that valley there is a right turn to Erista, Aird and Crowlista. Pass the row of houses at Erista, bending to the right, and at the end of the village there is a left fork left to Crowlista. Follow the road down to the sandy bay, and you will see the first few houses of Crowlista above you to the right. When you reach a right turn at the post box, take that road on the right, doubling back and Airebroc is the first large house on the right, with its byre next to the road.
